Are you there, God? ....... Meh! He must be taking a shower.

I am not surprised by the final outcome... however, I never thought Satanism would score so high with me. I always thought of myself as an agnostic more than most options ... heh heh! Little evil me!

coming up...

Just a couple movies I wanna see:

Happily Ever After
Which from what I understand delves into the question of fidelity and happinness in marriage ... basically topples over any ill-founded perception that marriage guarantees a happy, fairy-tale ending (a realistic, often cynical point of view that seems redundant in any case, however it's not uncalled for ... every once in a while we need a little wake up call from the pink cloud we live in ... or at least the one I live in).

Kontroll

Plot according to imdb.com: The massive labyrinthine netherworld that is the Budapest subway system provides the stunning setting for 'Kontroll,' a high-style, high-speed romantic thriller in which the lives of assorted outcasts, lovers, and dreamers intersect and collide. One handsome young hero, one mysterious maiden, and one particularly nasty killer must conduct a race against time, trains, and destiny itself in their frantic pursuit of one another.

All I know is that I get a very nice vibe from the trailer. I loved the visuals shown, and the kooky ideas, plus the speed of pacing (well, this is just a trailer, who knows about the movie) reminds me of Run Lola Run. I hope I can get to see it, find out if I'm right or wrong.

Old Boy

Plot according to imdb.com: An average man is kidnapped and imprisoned in a hotel room for 15 years without explanation. He then is released, equipped with money, a cellphone and expensive clothes. As he strives to explain his imprisonment and get his revenge, he soon finds out that not only his kidnapper has still plans for him, but that those plans will serve as the even worse finale to 15 years of imprisonment.

Ever since I saw Ichi: The Killer, I've fallen in love with these ultra-violent films. Lots of unsensitive gore, very interesting plots ... and lovely special effects (yessss ... blood is not that easy to emulate).

Dark Water

#1 - In this film the star is none other than the extremely beautiful, exquisite Jennifer Connelly (always been in love with her ... since Labyrinth)
#2 - The writing credits go to those responsible for Ringu, however the director is a Brazilian guy (nothing to do with those responsible for The Ring - American adaptation of Ringu. This might be a very good thing for those skeptical due to a hatred for the The Ring movies ... people, this might turn out to be good)

Me? I'm already sold! :-D Slap Jenny on any movie, I'm gonna watch it.

Must See

Just in... I arrived at work ... an hour later, I am delving into the alternatives offered by the Rotten Tomatoes webpage.

Here, more to remind me than to let you know, is a list of movies that I really want to see:

Heavenly Creatures

[Listening to] "Spiders", Moby (del CD Hotel, 2005) <--- very nice!

It's a swarm!

Yesterday I had my "guilty-pleasure" movie night.

Starring Lucy Lawless. And that obviously explains it all. Those who know me from some time ago (let's say a few years or more) will remember the time when Xena was still being aired. The same time that I did all that was possible so as not to miss a single episode (efforts that were mostly fruitless, however, I had no cable TV at home, which meant traveling to Mom's and hope for generosity RE: the TV set).

This movie is just a run-of-the-mill sci-fi flick. Bad plot, unbelievable facts and turns of events (mostly regarding the locusts and their genetic mutations), etc etc etc. But there was this one scene, a scene that sticks out like a sore thumb in this movie, in which Maddy (Lucy's character) calls her dad to tell him that she's pregnant (he's the first one to know, her husband and she are separated due to her lack of attention and time for their relationship). She starts all cheery but her fatther then asks how her husband is taking the news and she bursts out crying. Given that her character is a strong one, this is not the usual damsel-in-distress, tearful sob. This is just the sheer realization that this is not the best time to be pregnant ... a high-pitched wail escapes her, soft, yet it conveys the feelings inside her. Lucy Lawless tends to be typecast due to Xena, a role she had for 6 or 7 years. But this scene proved to me she can do much more than the ancient Greek warrior.

Anyways ... I Love Lucy too ... just not the redhead creep...

Cycling

Found this a few weeks ago while flying duo and crashing into a desperately dark trip. This didn't help one bit, but it is worth every bit downloaded (just the trailer, I think we, the third-world, dark-skinned peasants, were not meant to watch the whole works).

following Popu!

HAHAHHAHA! Wuthering Heights! q mal!

shhh... it's a secret!

Rincón

... the best-kept secret of Puerto Rico!

or so they claim in every fucking tourist-trap flyer and magazine! If it's a secret... YOU'RE NOT DOING A VERY GOOD JOB OF KEEPING IT!

I don't know if they're relying on the stupidity and laziness of most rosy-assed gringos that fly into this island. But they're working towards destroying every bit of natural life and beauty there is left in this island. I was surprised to see one of these magazines (Places, I think it's called) describe detailedly how to get to this secluded little beach I remember going to a few years ago. Right near the Cabo Rojo lighthouse. The beach is fucking difficult to get to. Of course, they don't say that. The thing has no pavement, people! The road to the beach is filled with moon-sized craters the size of Ohio. DO NOT GO THERE!

It really pisses me off to see yet another beautiful, secluded, secret beach turned into tourist fodder. GODDAMN thet day this island turned into a "tropical paradise with the advantage of US currency". I feel like a Hawaiian renegade... Jeeeeez...

Get outta my fucking island, creepy alien!

BTW: my apologies to Stitch. He's the cutest. Not so with the other aliens.

.... creeepyyyyy!!!

The Horror

Of TWINS! separated at birth and by time (16 years difference)

Courteney Cox (left) and Margot Kidder (right)

I just watched The Amityville Horror

which J. so graciously bestowed upon my person to watch and behold, as a belated birthday gift. Totally loved the film (even if it's dated). But these cheesy 70's slasher films call to a darker, more morbid inner self. It's the same inner self that adores Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist, just to name the most known few. Ah, and never forget the Poltergeist trilogy, specially 1 & 2.

^_^

not so cute anymore, am i?

"Happy" droplets

I remember the day I saw this movie I instantly fell in love with the music. Unfortunately, this being a USA-filtered island, the soundtrack wasn't yet available. During those days my then-boyfriend was spending a month in Spain. I remember the irrepresible desire to just hop on a plane and go join him. I remember missing the guy to tears. Next time he called, I asked him to get the soundtrack for me. He did. Little did I know that the movie that made me cry so much out of nostalgia would have a soundtrack that could be best defined as "happinness in a bottle".

Plus finding out years after that Eze too has this CD was a reassurance ... :-)

Hija de la Lágrima

Víctima
De: Charly García / Por: Charly García

Víctima de soledad
víctima de un mal extraño
mi corazón se ha partido en dos.
¿Quién te ha visto y quién te ve?
Quién te ama te hace daño
mi corazón se ha partido en dos
veo esa sangre en la pared
iluminó mi ser
algo va a caer
veo tu sombra y ya no sé
ya no sé qué hacer
algo va a caer

Víctima de libertad
víctima de un sol extraño
¡Oh! Mi corazón se ha partido en dos
cuando todos van a ver
cuando va a nacer
todo va a caer
tengo que salir y volver
desaparecer
y alguien va a caer
víctima de libertad
víctima de soledad
víctima de soledad
víctima de soledad.

It's Musical!

Right now I'm giving a try to some online mp3's by Quarter Turn. These guys sound a bit like Aphex Twin (in my opinion). I'd sure like to see them live, see what energy they bring into the play of the sound. As it is, what I'm hearing, I likes.

Also, in the show, Introdujos. I reaaaaaally recommend a visit to the site, specially in the "Descargas" link, where you can find a video to the piece Milímetros. It's wonderfully brutal. I really want to know what piece of anime they used to make this.

Also joining in: Jorge Castro, whom I knew since I first saw Cornucopia. This time he will be joined by Gardy Pérez Ruiz (I don't know who he is, but go here if you want to learn more).

And of course, the faaabuliz Balún, which I totally love (and love seeing live).

So, yes, I will certainly be going to this one gem of a show. ;-) See ya there!

BTW: I forgot to add: been hearing Stina Nordenstam. Her website is in another language other than English or Spanish, cannot understand it, really, that's why I won't link it here, but do look her up, it's worth the effort.

Bunny Rabbits ... not so cute...

Watership Down

Finally put an end to the doubt... what movie were they playing in that one deleted scene from Donnie Darko?

It was just 2 seconds, but I became enthralled. Must buy this movie.

Based upon Richard Adam's novel of the same title, this animated feature delves into the surprisingly violent world of a warren of rabbits as they seek to establish a new colony free of tyranny and human intervention. Frightening and bloody in some scenes. Not recommended for young children.

Summary written by Keith Loh {loh@sfu.ca}

In the Sandleford warren, Fiver, a young runt rabbit who is a seer, receives a frightening vision of his warren's immenient destruction. When he and his loving brother, Hazel, fail to convince their chief of the need to evacuate; they set out on their own with a small band of others who heeded the warning and barely manage to elude the Warren's military caste. What follows is a perilous journey in which the band faces dangers of all varieties like predators, humans and even their own kind. While they eventually find a peaceful new home at Watership Down, they have new problems that will lead to a deadly conflict with the neighbouring Warren called Efrafa, which is a police state by the powerful and insane General Woundwart.

Just wanted to share...

The Power of Orange Knickers

(featuring Damien Rice)

The power of orange knickers
The power of orange knickers
The power of orange knickers
Under my petty coat
The power of listening to what
You don't want me to know

Can somebody tell me now who is this terrorist
Those girls that smile kindly then rip your life to pieces?
Can somebody tell me nwo am I alone with this
This little pill in my hand and with this secret kiss
Am I alone in this...

A matter of complication
When you become a twist
For their latest drink
As they're transitioning

Can somebody tell me now who is this terrorist
This little pill in my hand that keeps the pain laughin'
Can somebody tell me now a way out of this -
That sacred pipe of red stone could blow me out of this kiss
Am I alone in this...

Shame shame time to leave me now
Shame shame you've had your fun
Shame shame for letting me think that I would be the one

Can somebody tell me now who is this terrorist
This little pill in my hand or this secret kiss
Am I alone in this kiss
Am I alone in this kiss

Styro-Kaffe-Snake

Went to Border's in Escorial to meet a good friend. Had some coffee. Drank the coffee. Trashed the cup. Usually these styrofoam cups don't do much else except create excessive pollution. This is something that cannot be helped with recycling (?). It would be better to just stop producing it altogether (molded styrofoam, such as cups, egg trays and such, cannot be recycled, styrofoam "peanuts" - the bits used for packaging - can) and start using ... our own cups instead, or plastic bottles! Don't drink coffee altogether!

That's better.

You can also make art. But that doesn't make things any better, does it? Just creates smaller bits of styrofoam to deal with. :-(

Bummer.

Maybe making pretty things out of something that's ugly to the core will not help alleviate the damage it causes. Just stop using the goddamned things!

Random I

Today I heard the worst breakup story ever from one of my coworkers. His girlfriend, with whom he had spent 4 years, broke up with him about a month ago through e-mail. She's in Spain, he's here (duh!) and this is the manner she picked to break up with him. :-/ ... which sets me to thinking...

Oh, and The Ring 2 starts today in local movie theatres. I wanna watch! :-D

... Time is running out. In about 15 mins I go into a corp meeting that will last all day.

After 5, I'm free to go sleep.
