It's a swarm!

Yesterday I had my "guilty-pleasure" movie night.

Starring Lucy Lawless. And that obviously explains it all. Those who know me from some time ago (let's say a few years or more) will remember the time when Xena was still being aired. The same time that I did all that was possible so as not to miss a single episode (efforts that were mostly fruitless, however, I had no cable TV at home, which meant traveling to Mom's and hope for generosity RE: the TV set).

This movie is just a run-of-the-mill sci-fi flick. Bad plot, unbelievable facts and turns of events (mostly regarding the locusts and their genetic mutations), etc etc etc. But there was this one scene, a scene that sticks out like a sore thumb in this movie, in which Maddy (Lucy's character) calls her dad to tell him that she's pregnant (he's the first one to know, her husband and she are separated due to her lack of attention and time for their relationship). She starts all cheery but her fatther then asks how her husband is taking the news and she bursts out crying. Given that her character is a strong one, this is not the usual damsel-in-distress, tearful sob. This is just the sheer realization that this is not the best time to be pregnant ... a high-pitched wail escapes her, soft, yet it conveys the feelings inside her. Lucy Lawless tends to be typecast due to Xena, a role she had for 6 or 7 years. But this scene proved to me she can do much more than the ancient Greek warrior.

Anyways ... I Love Lucy too ... just not the redhead creep...
